The warm and humid tropical regions (उष्णकटिबंधीय क्षेत्र) of the earth lying between the Tropic of Cancer (कर्क रेखा) and the Tropic of Capricorn have a rich diversity of life, example ; plants, animals and microorganisms. These regions together are called Megadiversity (मेगाडायवर्सिटी) centres. They contain more than half  biodiversity (जैव विविधता) of the world. These megadiversity centres are:

2. Columbia
3. Equador
4. Peru
5. Mexico
6. Zaire
7. Madagascar
8. Australia
9. China
10. Indonesia
11. Malaysia
12. India

India contains about 8% of total species (प्रजातियां) found on the earth.
